# Edit images in PDF online

- Privacy: Supported processing runs locally after the person selects a file.

## Edit visual content already inside a PDF

The image lifting tool works with flattened and embedded page graphics by capturing the exact region you select. The lifted pixels become a normal editor object while the original location is masked.

## Steps

1. **Open the PDF page** — Zoom until the image boundary is easy to identify.
2. **Drag with Edit image** — Draw a precise box around the existing image to lift it from the rendered page.
3. **Transform or replace it** — Move, resize, rotate, change opacity, upload a replacement or delete the image before export.

## Common questions

### Can I move an image that is already in a PDF?

Yes. Lift the image with a selection box, then drag it anywhere on the same page and resize it with the corner handle.

### Does image editing work on flattened PDFs?

Yes. The editor captures the rendered pixels inside your selection, so it does not depend on the original image object remaining separate.

### What replacement image formats are supported?

You can replace or add images using PNG and JPEG files.
