# Redact PDF online

Cover names, numbers, images and other sensitive areas with opaque redaction boxes, then export a private local copy.

- Input: PDF
- Output: redacted PDF
- Browser tool: [Open Redact PDF online](https://docsbunny.com/redact-pdf)
- Privacy: Supported processing runs locally after the person selects a file.

## Hide sensitive PDF content before you share

The Redact tool opens the live editor with black redaction boxes ready. Draw over each sensitive area, resize or move the boxes, then export. This is visual masking for everyday sharing—not certified redaction that permanently destroys recoverable content streams.

## Steps

1. **Open the PDF** — Your file stays on the device while pages render locally.
2. **Draw redaction boxes** — Use Redact to place opaque black covers over text or images you want hidden.
3. **Review and export** — Adjust placement, undo mistakes, then download the covered PDF.

## Common questions

### Is this certified PDF redaction?

No. Docs Bunny applies opaque visual covers. Underlying content may still exist in the file structure, so do not treat this as forensic or legally certified redaction.

### Can I change the redaction color?

Yes. Select a box and use the color control in Properties if you need a different cover color.

### Are redacted files uploaded?

No. Supported editing and export run locally in your browser.
